Built a tool for physio exercise plans. The WhatsApp part was the only bit that mattered.
I build software for physio clinics. Declaring that up front, no link, and I'll answer honestly if it's useful.
The thing I assumed clinics wanted was a big exercise library. Thousands of videos, filters, search. That's what everyone in this space sells and it's what we built first.
Turned out to be the least important part.
What clinicians kept describing wasn't a shortage of exercises. It was the twenty minutes between deciding on a plan and the patient actually having it, finding last week's version, editing it, printing, and half the time the sheet never made it home anyway. One clinic owner told me her therapists were photographing printed sheets and WhatsApping the photo, because the software she'd already paid for was slower than paper.
So we ended up rebuilding around the boring end: reusable templates so a standard knee or low back plan takes under a minute, a PDF that comes out branded, and delivery straight to the patient's WhatsApp because that's where Indian patients actually are. Email gets ignored. Portals require an app nobody downloads.
Things I still don't have good answers to, and where I'd take input:
- Does getting the plan onto a phone actually improve adherence, or does it just move the same non-compliance to a nicer format? I suspect the latter and haven't got data.
- How much do patients watch videos versus just wanting to know the reps?
- Everyone says admin time is the problem, but nobody can tell me if the time goes to writing, finding the template, or sending. Different fix for each.
If you've abandoned a tool your clinic pays for, I'd genuinely like to know at what point you gave up. That's more useful to me than any feature request.
