I survived a war, lost my father, and now I need to pull my mother back from the edge. What skill can I learn from zero that will actually feed us?

Hello I'm Demian. I'm 28. I live in Germany now, but I'm from Ukraine. I left during the war, on foot, across a field I didn't know was mined until I was already on the other side. My twin brother was with me. We made it out together, like we've done everything else.

My father died because of war. He died while we were here. I couldn't go back for the funeral. I couldn't bury him. I still haven't really processed that. I don't know if I ever will.

My mother is still alive, but she's not really here anymore. She lost her husband, her home, her language, everything. She's in another city right now because we can't afford to bring her to ours. Every time I talk to her, I hear it in her voice — that she's holding on by her fingernails, and she's tired. If my brother and I weren't here, I don't think she'd still be. That thought keeps me up at night.

Money is a mess. We get some state support, but every month we go about 600 euros deeper into a hole. Neither of us has a real income yet. I'm looking for any job I can find, but I also know that a minimum-wage shift isn't going to fix this. It'll just slow down the bleeding. I need something that can actually pull us out. Something I can build, even if it takes time.

I'm not stupid. I have three diplomas with honors — tourism, hotel management, marketing. They're mostly useless in Germany, but I mention them because I want you to understand that I can learn. I write well in English. I think in systems — I can look at something chaotic and figure out how to structure it. I speak four languages. I have ADHD, which is a curse and a gift: when I lock onto something, I can work for hours without eating, but when I crash, I crash hard.

I don't want to show my face online. I'm a private person. I'm not trying to become an influencer or build a brand around my personality. I'd rather my work speak for itself.

I've been stuck for months trying to figure out what to do. I've tried building something — a whole system, actually — but it didn't bring in any money. I learned a lot, but I'm back at zero. I'm not here to promote anything. I'm here because I need real advice from people who've been in the dirt and found a way out.

If you were me — with my languages, my brain, my situation — what would you learn? What skill, right now, could I start from zero, learn for free or very cheap, and realistically earn 500 to 1000 euros a month from anywhere in the world within a few months? Something that doesn't require coding. Something a private, systematic person can do.

I'm not asking for motivation. I have plenty of that. I need a map. If you've climbed out of a hole like this, please tell me how you did it.
