New Monetization Criteria is NOT that Scary (Hot take?)

DISCUSSION

If the numbers are that close & concerning for you, then I’m here to tell you that you’re only missing out on $100, maybe $200 at most. If you think that’s a lot of money then I’d recommend looking into entry level jobs or freelancing working for other creators because you’ll earn a lot more money for the same amount of time invested. Be responsible with your time & finances.

Don’t get me wrong because It would be nice to keep the old requirements, and in an ideal world everyone would be monetized just by creating an account; but it’s just not that’s important.

Nothing is stopping you from posting the same content, and if you’re genuinely concerned about the few bucks you’re missing out on then maybe this isn’t not for you.

The most common way to reach the criteria is by exploding in stats with 1 or a few videos. I’ve gotten a channel monetized after 1 day of uploading for reference, and by the time it took Adsense to send me a letter with a verification code I already had 10k+ watch hours on the same videos gaining more views. That’s not because I’m lucky, but because I been creating videos since I was in middle school before YouTube was even a thing (in a certified unc, as the kids say). It took me a long time to “get it” but I got here because I worked hard trying to make genuinely good content. I took me especially longer because I actually suck and have no talent. I personally think the average person can make it faster than me. However, if you’re trying to cheese stats and barely scrape by the criteria then I just wanted to give a friendly nudge that you might be wasting your time personally.

The silliest thing I’ve seen on this sub was someone swearing by daily 10 hours live streams of nothing banking on people accidentally leaving the video open; come on guys what the heck?
