Building my first tool, but really torn on the SaaS model...

My co-founder and I have been in the trenches for the past few months building out a specialized utility tool. We believe it is pretty close to launch time, but not really if the SaaS model is the best fit for us.

Seems like everyone goes with the SaaS model, but looking at our specific utility, I'm second-guessing whether forcing a recurring monthly subscription actually makes sense for the end user.

Without going into detail, it's a focused, surgical tool, something people will use heavily during active work bursts, rather than a massive daily enterprise CRM. We've been throwing around alternative ideas like a one-time lifetime/founder license or a utility-based setup, but I want to be sure which avenue would be best for us.

For those of you who have launched software before, how do you evaluate whether a product actually fits a monthly SaaS subscription, versus a one-time license or alternative model? Maybe a hybrid of the two coud be viable?? Appreciate any perspective from folks who've been down this road. Still learning as I go here.
