Allied Universal applying, better in person or online?

Been unemployed for a couple months and thought to try security, even for 2 days a week would be fine. Applied and then had to record myself answering a bunch of questions? Is this normal? Do you have to do this for every single application? Should I just go in person? I'm in San Diego and live close by an office.
