I made friends with the neighbors and now my friend wants to leave me… aitah?

My boyfriend and I have been together for 12.5 years and have 3 kids. I don’t go anywhere or hang out with anybody ever. And my boyfriend rarely spends time with me, we have work shifts that don’t really give us much time together but even on the days we do have time he usually just goes to the gym or golfs. We (my kids and I) recently met our neighbors after not knowing them at all the 6 years we’ve lived here. We have a 2.5 year old girl and they do as well and our kids love having out, and honestly I love having friends 🥲 My boyfriend refuses to meet them and now is upset about this and after hanging out with them yesterday, he’s telling me he wants to leave me. I truly don’t see a problem with having friends finally but I guess it’s an issue for him…

This is what he texted me this morning… “I have somewhere figured out as far as a place to stay after today. Not sure about with the kids though, so that may take some time”

and I followed it with

“I really want you to understand that I’m not trying disrespect you or something. I made friends with the neighbors because I think it’s nice to have friendly people around us, everyone else around us with kids is really strange. I wish you would just meet them so you can see for yourself that there’s nothing weird happening. But if you’re trying to leave me over this, then I will simply stop hanging out with them 😭 You’re obviously more important to me than friendship 😭”

I’m honestly not entirely sure what I’m looking for by posting this here, I guess I’d just like to know what I did wrong… And what I can do now? I really truly don’t understand what the issue is and now he’s trying to leave me over it 😭😭😭
