Starting Clair Obscur: Advice Welcome

Discussion

I normally don't go into games blind these days, but Clair Obscur is next up on my backlog. I watched game footage, but only really to experience the story, visuals, and characters (all of which were fascinating). The gameplay isn't something I am all too familiar with.

I haven't played too many reaction-based turn based games, but my experience with Sea of Stars told me "git gud" wasn't in the cards for me. I don't think this game has sliders or artifacts to change those mechanics like SoS did, but would playing on Easy and focusing on dodging rather than parrying serve me well enough to come to grips with it? Some people said the learning curve can either be non-existent or a hellish experience. I'm planning to play somewhat defensively to compensate of the timed aspect of the game is a bit of a struggle. I'd have to imagine the windows to dodge or parry are distinct, but not complete "do or die" scenarios.

To that end, are there defense or support focused builds meant to mitigate damage, or is the game predicated on pure damage to the enemies?

Note: I'm really here to re-experience the story, visuals, characters, and music again, not to struggle bus. Just trying to get a gauge if the game was accommodating to that sort of style, or if the struggles people talked about were more for normal or harder difficulties or builds.

Thank you for any advice.
