What should I know about studying in Germany?

I'm going into 11th grade soon. I currently have dsd II and I'd love to study in Germany after I graduate highschool. Though, my parents can probably only afford to pay for my blocked account for one year. Would it be realistic to work and balance uni? And would it be possible to visit my family on a weekend like once a month or would I fall behind in my studies.

How are the living expenses there as well?
