last minute rental deals platforms you guys use for spontaneous trips?

i decided on a whim to take a spontaneous trip up the coast this coming weekend, but looking for places to stay on such short notice has been a complete nightmare. every time i find a decent condo or cottage that looks reasonable at first glance, the host fees and service charges at checkout push the price way beyond what i wanted to spend.

i know there are places online that list unsold inventory or last minute rental deals at huge discounts, but it feels tough to tell which apps are legitimate and which ones are total scams. what sites or apps do you guys actually rely on when you want to book a solid place last minute without getting totally gouged?
