I was initially so charmed by Butter by Asako Yuzuki, but it gets so incredibly boring and repetitive and there are no stakes… is it even worth finishing ?

It had so much promise! But a thriller where the murders happened years ago and instead you only think about whether or not the heroine will lose the weight she’s gained by eating so much butter… halfway through I went from loving it and finding it really inventive to finding it to be one of the bigger slogs of my reading year so far…
