Autism mom question

Discussion

I’m wondering if anybody’s child had similar symptoms as my 2 1/2 year-old and how have they developed over the years? My son has a level one autism diagnosis, diaghnosed at 24 months. Over the past six months he’s been in ABA and developed a lot of functional language. He has more words than I can count, and he uses a lot of them very spontaneously, but sometimes I have to prompt him. He combines 2 to 3 words, especially when highly motivated. Some of his speech is a little rigid, like I’ll use the same phrases for certain things each day. his pronunciation has significantly improved over the past due to three months, but I do think he has a little bit of a apraxia of speech. he has good eye contact and typically joint attention, and his receptive language is pretty good, and he can follow one step direction most of the time. He points and waves, and blows kisses, all things he learned in an ABA. Over the past six months as his language has developed I have noticed that he stims a little bit more. some days I don’t notice any sensory seeking or stemming, but other days he’ll find like a toy snake and shake it in front of his eyes for like 10 minutes, or wants to spin in circles while looking at the leaves shake in front of him. He sometimes will repetitively saying ABC song or count to 10 on his fingers. He loves letters and numbers and I’m pretty sure he can already read. His place skills are still not amazing and sometimes he’ll stem on a toy instead of playing with it properly. There is some days that we get some natural pretend to play particularly if it’s a toy he likes like his Bluey toy. My question is is does anybody have a child that was like this, that’s now in school and doing well? Well, I know he’s made great progress. I still worry a lot about him especially on days when he’s tired we’re not feeling well and he talks less and the stims are worse. He is such a good boy so cute and loving, I just want him to be ok as he grows.
