New EV owner in Spain Needs lots of advice

I live in Alicante Spain. I took my first trip in my new Kia EV2 and it was a complete fail, that took me more the 5 hours to correct. I need advice from experienced EV owners. . My car was charged to 76%, showing a range of 300 km. I have only charged my car with our home charger. but I figured since I was only driving 1 hour away, (85 km) to a place with many chargers showing on a map I would have no trouble. I drove to Portal de la Marina mall in Ondara which was surrounded by many charging stations, and since I was down to 90km range I was going to charge my car. Over the next 5 hours I tried about a dozen of these charging stations and none of them worked for me. One by one I went to a charging station loaded the app on my phone, registered, and input payment details., and one after another didn't allow me to charge. I watched several people also try nearby chargers and leave frustrated because they couldn't charge either. I decided to call the kia Asistance and see if they could help. They sent a tow truck with a driver who knew nothing about ev cars, so he was not helpful. Finally I gave up on the mall and found a charging station about 8 km away which didn't require an App and I was able to charge the car so I could return to my home. Is it typical that there are so many non working charging stations? Which apps should I load? Are there any resources I should read to prevent this from happening again? It was very hot and I was driving on the freeway at 110km per hour with the air conditioning. I am realizing that taking a trip to Madrid which is about 4.5 hrs. away I will probably have to recharge at least twice, which is such a disappointment. I miss my gas guzzler.
