Will never says hes gay

Will is gay, obviously, but i think it’s an interesting choice that he never actually says the words ‘I’m gay’ on screen. He only skirts around it and talks about it in euphemisms. Even in the big ‘coming out’ scene he phrases it as ‘i don’t like girls’ instead of an explicit stating of his sexuality.

Personally i actually really like this decision and think it fits well with his character. Will is a gay kid in a rural town in 1980s America at the height of the AIDS epidemic. Also despite Will being more confident and assertive in season 5 he’s still sensitive and struggling with his sexuality.

This isn’t a major observation or anything but i think it’s a nice writing choice that communicates a lot about his character.
