Need Advice - Day-of Coordinator

Vendors/Venue

Hi r/weddingplanning! I could really use some perspective on whether I actually need a day‑of coordinator or if my current plan is enough.

Context:
My fiancé and I are getting married this October (on a Saturday), and apparently our date is very popular based on what vendors have told me. Our venue is non‑traditional - we’re renting the entire property from Thursday through Monday, which means we can set up early, stay on site with family, and avoid the frantic teardown. It saved us thousands, and we’re really happy with the choice.

Because it’s a bring‑everything‑in situation, we do have several vendors (rentals, caterer, florist, bathroom trailer, band), but nothing out of the ordinary. We’re expecting about 60 guests, and all wedding events (ceremony → cocktail hour → reception) are just a short walk apart.

I’m also a program manager by profession, so I’m very into organization . I’ll have timelines, labeled bins, diagrams, pre‑prepped décor, etc. ready to go.

The issue:
I originally thought we wouldn’t need a day‑of coordinator, but over the last couple months I’ve gotten anxious about it and started looking. I’ve been searching since May/June and… I cannot find one. Either they’re already booked for my date or they simply never respond (which feels so rude). My budget is around $1,000–$1,800, and from what I’ve seen that’s pretty normal for DOC services, so I don’t think I’m lowballing.

Possible solution:
My band is happy to MC the event. We have plenty of family/friends willing to help with setup, especially since we can do a lot of it early. One of my friends (who is also a guest) has offered to come early and act as the main point of contact for vendors during setup, make sure the vision stays consistent, and help direct anyone who has questions.

My question:
Do you think this setup is enough to skip a day‑of coordinator? Has anyone done something similar and felt good about it? I’m at a loss because I truly cannot find a DOC for our date, and I want to make sure I’m not setting myself up for insane stress on the actual day.

Would love any thoughts or advice from folks who’ve been in a similar situation.
