Does anyone here actually pay for B2B lead databases?

I've always built my prospect lists manually, but it's starting to take too much time as my business grows.
I'm thinking about trying Targetron's B2B Local Leads Directory, but before I do, I'd love to hear from people who've used lead databases.
Do they actually help you land more clients, or is manual prospecting still the better option?
