I finally watched the season finale. Here are my dumb thoughts.

I only have one word to describe this whole season: RUSHED.

The moment I heard that not only would this be the season finale (which I was fine with. The OG ended at 4, so not a big deal), but it would also only have 4 episodes, I knew this was gonna be rushed af. And unfortunately, I was right.

Here are some of the things that stood out to me good and bad:

* Quantum: What in the MCU is this? Where the hell did this come from? I get that because Justin cleared his thoughts which is why it exists, but really? He’s smart, but he shouldn’t be this smart to know how to build one. Don’t even get me started on Winter who somehow knows how to repair the machine. Where was this? Winter was shown to be as intelligent as Milo at times. At least Roman made more sense with using magic.

* Harper: Glad she’s finally made an appearance, and that they made a callout to Justin basically dating a Harper clone. Nice that she and Alex are still friends, while still having some of her quirkiness, but I would’ve liked to see a nod to her being an author as a reference to her future self.

* Alex’s Dream: So it turns out, Alex is not dead (shocker, I know), and is just in a rift where she dreams up her past. Nice to know that she and Harper stayed friends well into adulthood. Unfortunately, this leads to…

* Mason: Who is dead. Seriously? Why? Why did he need to be dead? So Alex can move on? Okay. Too bad it ends up being pointless since he’s still in love with her, and will never stop loving her. Kinda hinders the point, don’t you think?

* Silas Evilini: Nice of them to bring one original character from the sequel back. He was more for comic relief than anything, but it was fun seeing him fanboy over Damien.

* Wizcatraz: Hey! We finally made it and… it’s fine I guess. It really is just a reused Wiztech set, but I’ll let it slide because of budget. The idea for scrambling magic is a good defense system, but the archives being a bottomless pit is a bit overkill. Also, why are the bounties so low? No wonder no one’s bothered to catch them.

* Wizacatraz Guards: Pfft! You can really tell the budget suffered here. What in the laser tag is their armor? Again, I get the whole budget thing, but geez! At least try with the outfits. I’ve seen cosplayers with less than half the budget with better armor. Even Drake and Josh had better armor for their Stormtrooper wannabes. Speaking of which, they’re just as useless as Stormtroopers. Oh no! A single guy with only giant hands vs like 10 of you. Surely you guys can handle him no problem, and not just stand there for like 5 minutes right?

Oh no! One of the prisoners has escaped! Surely you guys can handle that no problem… and they fall for a very basic tripwire and said prisoner’s gone. Never mind…

* Damien Penwulf: No complaints here. I think Brandon Micheal Hall did a great job, and his chemistry with both Alex and Billie was fine.

* Reunion: It was nice to see Billie finally reunited with her parents, and eventually moving back with them. I liked how Justin and his family acknowledged how empty and quiet everything was now that Billie’s gone. Really shows that they really did bond as an actual family.

* Nicodemus Penwulf: Two Words: Wasted. Potential. This is where the rush is. He felt like such a last minute thought. They really expected me to believe that this is the same guy who overpowered the Main Characters so much that it took Alex sacrificing herself to initially beat him… only for him to be beaten by Theresa and the running gag. Ok! Sure!

* Jerry and Theresa Russo: Nice to see Theresa back for the finale, but what was that nonsense about Jerry being bitten by a skunk? What the hell?!

* Waverly Sub Station: Wait a minute. I thought this place was abandoned. Why is it suddenly fixed? Who fixed it? Is this another location? But it’s nice to see the place again for one last time.

Overall, I have no words to say. It really is a mess of a finale. It’s not good. But it’s not bad either. It’s just… lacking.

For this finale, I’d give a 4/10, while the overall series gets a 6.7/10
