If you are not a pk player and you got killed,do u lose ur items??

I thought only pk player lose their item and not the normal player. And in like s2 ep23 Shangri theatre, I saw pencilgon killing other players and thought she killed them cause she got something after they die right? And she also self destruct herself after that.Whats the point of that?
