Is it normal to not test the water at all?

Hey, I was wondering if it’s common for hobbyists to not test their water at all? I’ve been in the planted aquarium hobby for 10 years now and I’ve never tested the water. I do water changes every 2–3 weeks, I’ve never chased specific parameters, and when I set up new tanks, I don’t cycle them in the traditional sense, I just let plants grow for 3 months before adding fish.
