I can't feel like I'm a guitarist (serious)
3 years ago, I decided to take guitar seriously.
Now, I can descently play "simple" full songs (chords & arpegios, licks) while singing on top of it. In front of people.
I even wrote some originals.
I practice 2h a day, virtually every day : picking technique, rythm, scales, solos, drop D riffs, etc ...
I know evey note on the neck and all the necessary theory : intervals, scales, chords, harmony... (Thank you, Scotty West).
But I can't call myself a guitarist. Because :
- I'm nowhere where I want to be technically
- because my main instrument was my voice for 20+ years
- Because everything new that I want to learn feels REALLY hard at the beginning (way more than when I learned to sing).
- I stress a lot when playing in front of others
I'll post a link in the comment so you can actually see/ear me play a full song. Criticism accepted.
What can I do to FEEL LIKE I'm also a GUITARIST now ?
How did you manage to get past this "impostor syndrome phase" ?
