Questions on moving out alone
Hey everyone, just after some advice: for context im 23 years old, been living home with family my whole life rent free, completed an automotive spray painting apprenticeship and got my trade qualification, am making money which I am more than happy with now due to having the skill learned, more specifically is currently $1800 per week net, I know I can afford most likely living on my own on this wage but I’ll explain my worries and concerns below. Have had my head down been saving hard and living way below my means, budgeting and have saved about $20,000, have no debt to my name now (had car loan for $40k which I just paid off, only got it to show off which was a big mistake but happy I learned to never do that one again), and anyway im kinda burnt out of living at home, I know I don’t have any expenses which im grateful for my family for that but im just over the environment and I just want my own space, the idea of being on my own in an apartment decorated how I want to feel like my own total safe place just seems so good and makes me so happy to do so, looking at it as a new chapter and to start new routines etc..
Some questions and worries I have:
-
for starters I am a bit indecisive if I want to stay in my career. It’s not anything I essentially went out of my way to choose to do but more so fell into it as I didn’t know what I wanted to do after school and had a family member in that line of work who was urging me to give it a go so I did and was in and out of it but finally finished and got that license and qualification. But yeah the main thing is I don’t want to be stuck, if I move out on my own well I know now im gonna have significant expenses that I have to pay no matter what (rent, groceries, utilities etc..) and if I want to change careers and of course when you start new careers you are the bottom making not the best money til your learn and get experience over time etc.. and so the biggest things are, what if I can’t save any money and now am paycheck to paycheck?, what if I need to take days off work here and there and now can’t afford my weekly bills for that week?
-
right now ofcourse im aware I can save loads of money but when living on your own whats a realistic amount/good amount of money to be able to save per week? If you have only $150-$300 per week purely disposable to save is that good because that sounds demotivating to me because by end of the year by the time you pay for rego, insurance and any emergencies that may come up may only be half of that net saved you actually end up pocketing which isn’t that much to me?
-
how if possible are you able to cover all bills+expenses, save, and still be able to buy things you genuinely just want like for example going on holiday, buying a new car or for that matter buying a nice car (big car guy here) like how can you do these things and is it possible. Just after the best financial advice on this from people in the position who are managing to do this and what to know from yous

what’re the pros and cons to moving out alone and can it drastically improve your life any means possible?
If anyone manages to get back to this I really appreciate it and thank you for taking the time to reply 🙏
