First time selling a car privately - how does it all work?
Hey all, first timer here so go easy on me π
Not trying to sell it here β just looking for advice before I list it properly. I'm selling my car privately for the first time and honestly not sure where to start or what I could realistically ask for it.
It's a 2017 VW Polo 1.2 TSI (90bhp), 7-speed DSG automatic, white, 5-door. Around 93,000 km. One Irish owner (it's a Japanese import) with a certified MDS immobiliser fitted. NCT valid to Dec 2026 (planning a fresh test before selling), tax also to Dec 2026 and only β¬190 a year. Condition is good β well looked after, with recent work done and invoices to show for it (ABS sensor and rear wheel bearing last October, plus new brake pads).
A couple of things I'm unsure about:
-
What could I realistically put it up for?
-
How does a private sale actually work start to finish β anything I should watch out for as a first-timer?
-
Does the import or the DSG gearbox put buyers off much?
Any honest advice appreciated, cheers π
