English-speaking veterinarian looking for work in Czech Republic — realistic?
Hi everyone,
I’m a veterinarian who has recently completed registration with the Czech Veterinary Chamber and am now legally able to practise in the Czech Republic.
The problem is that I currently speak English, but not Czech.
I’m wondering how realistic it would be to find a veterinary position, particularly in Prague, where I could initially work in English while learning Czech on the job.
I understand that Czech is normally expected in veterinary practice, especially when communicating with Czech-speaking clients. I’m specifically interested in hearing from veterinarians, clinic owners, or expats who have experience with this situation.
Is this something that actually happens in Czech veterinary clinics, or would most clinics simply require Czech from the beginning?
Any honest experiences or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
