I fucked up… bad.
I am about 34g in debt. I’m Bi polar and my dopamine of choice is spending money. At one time I had an amazing job that allowed me to pay bills and have money left over to spend but now not so much. I robbed Peter to pay Paul for over a year and finally I decided I could not do it. I’ve tried all of the tricks in the book to hold off collection agency’s but none of them have worked for me. Even though it’s all in my name and none of it belongs to my husband it will still in some way most likely affect him because I have no choice but to file BK. We have a paid for house but it’s in both of our names. 1 car is paid for but has a lien on it from Yendo credit card (worst mistake ever) and my other car is paid off but it has a lien against them for a loan I got at one main. I have an appt with a BK attorney next week to go over what I can do. I am trying to figure out what is the best way to tell him. He know about my debt but he doesn’t know it’s this bad and I refuse to use my mental health as an excuse. Regardless of how bad my mania was I am still an adult and I made extremely poor decisions. How did you tell your spouse your financial world is about to crumble?
