I’m surprised at how fast scrappers and salvagers are when it comes to grabbing things off the curb and from dumpsters.
Around two weeks ago, I put out an old 21 year old CRT TV in my building’s dumpster that barely functioned anymore (tried to give it away for free, but no bites), and within like 30 hours of putting it out, it was gone. Someone had already grabbed it before the garbage trucks came (left the remote behind tho). Whether it was a salvager, scrapper, or maybe even some kind of retro gaming enthusiast I’ll never know, but I’ve always found it fascinating how fast stuff like that goes from the curbs & dumpsters in this city, especially when it comes to electronics even in the worst of conditions.
Anyone else have similar stories like that for things like furniture, other electronics and whatnot?
