Is Silliman still worth it for college?

Hi! I'm currently a SHS student in CDO, and I would like to ask if Silliman is still worth it for college. Quick backstory lang, alumni akong mom sa Silliman, and she's proud that she's from there. In her words, the environment is very peaceful, and the academics are great! Overall, she says that she made some of the best memories there, but I'm questioning whether those qualities are still present today because of the issues that I've heard about.

I have a few other options for college, but my mom wants me to go to Silliman (and that's basically my only option since that's also what my family wants). Personally, the only things that draw me there are that the dormitories are within a walking distance from the school, and that the campus is right next to the beach or the boulevard, if I'm not mistaken?

I also want to ask about what the experience is like there, what are the people like, and what is the community like? I don't know if it's the school for me or if I should still keep my options open. I was told na prestigious jud daw ang Silliman, but the recent reviews say otherwise.
