When did you become your family's "finance expert"... without signing up for it?

It started with one simple question. Sometime ago, my parents asked me where they should park some extra money instead of leaving it in a savings account.

I had been learning about mutual funds and SIPs, so I suggested a couple of options after doing some research.

That investment worked out well.

Now, every few weeks, someone in the family calls me.

"Which mutual fund should I invest in?", "Should I redeem now?", "Is gold better than equity?", "Should I buy this IPO?"

The funny part is, I'm still figuring out my own finances.

I don't have all the answers, and I definitely don't want to be responsible if the market falls and someone loses money.

I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Has anyone else unintentionally become the go-to money person in their family or friend circle? How do you help without feeling responsible for every investment outcome?
