Why is getting a script into production so damn difficult?
I've spent several years working with film financing and raising capital, and one thing I've found fascinating is how fragmented the journey from a finished script to an actual production can be.
You can have a great script but then what?
Do you find a producer first?
Attach a director?
Look for financing?
Approach talent?
Build a pitch deck?
Look at tax incentives?
Find a co-production partner?
And where do you actually find the right people?
I've seen projects with strong scripts struggle simply because the people behind them didn't know what the next step was or who to talk to.
So I created r/ScriptToProduction as a place to share the things we learn along the way.
I'd love to hear from people here:
What's the biggest obstacle you've faced trying to get a script into production?
And if you've successfully made the transition from script → production, what was the thing that finally unlocked it for you?
