Starting as an Oathbreaker is just too perfect for Dark Urge

Using Maleficus32’s Start with Oathbreaker Unlocked mod to start as an Oathbreaker Paladin as the Dark Urge just seems to fit the character so perfectly. To the point that it almost feels like the canon way to play the Dark Urge.

Avoid clearing the spoiler tags if you haven’t played as the Dark Urge before!

Firstly, all the undead, necromantic, and fear-based spells that an Oathbreaker has access to are so thematically on point for the Dark Urge. >!I know the canon Dark Urge is a Storm Sorcerer, but in what way do Storm Sorceries and elemental spells!< >!really!< >!tie to Bhaal?!<

Secondly, Oathbreaker fits so well well with the Dark Urge’s background. >!Sarevok actually has a line for Dark Urge paladins that states that you took an oath in an attempt to resist your murderous urges and then, after embracing them, you slaughtered the rest of your order, breaking your oath. What other class gets a unique line relating to your background like this? I don’t think any do. The idea of the Dark Urge joining a Paladin order and swearing an oath in a desperate attempt to resist their urges just seems so perfect for the character.!<

Using the previously mentioned mod to start as an Oathbreaker rather than any other Paladin subclass fits far better with this background, I’d argue. When would the Dark Urge have had the time, or the reason, to renew an oath that they can’t remember? Surely they have other things to be worrying about. Waking up on the Nautiloid with these powers that you draw from the darkness within, perhaps with some fleeting memory of some sort of broken oath, seems far more appropriate.

Finally, starting as an Oathbreaker adds an additional thematic goal for a Resist Dark Urge; reclaiming their oath. You would need to install a separate mod for this, one that allows you to switch class at will, since using Maleficus32’s mod means the Oathbreaker Paladin won’t spawn in your camp, but that’s easily done. The Dark Urge can end the story wiping the slate clean, reclaiming their Oath as a way to signal their renewal >!and their disavowal of Bhaal.!<
