excluded from biphobia
recently i’ve noticed that i seem to be excluded from any discussions about bisexual people with my friends.
for some context, i am a more androgynous soft masc woman. i have only dated women, but i have had sexual encounters with both genders.
for some reason everybody sees me as a lesbian, they have since secondary school, through multiple friend groups i’m always excluded from the bisexual label. for example, the other day we were talking about how ‘lesbians should only date lesbians’ and the trope of bisexual women always ending up leaving the woman for a man. i spoke up and mentioned how there are a lot of outliers, for example me! and was met with ‘yeah but you’re different’. how am i different?? i really don’t understand this view.
this whole thing has led to a lot of questioning in my life, unable to stick to being bisexual to avoid judgement. it’s so strange, it’s almost like a reversed homophobia?? my girlfriend is always disgusted whenever she’s reminded that i like men/have been with them in the past.
does anyone else have this experience?
