Witness summons in criminal case but moved out of the county

Received a court notification saying I am required to attend as a witness in a criminal case. It says a formal Witness Summons will issue shortly. It is related to my car that was stolen 7 years ago

I live now in another county. I also have a baby who is only a few months old so travelling would be difficult because of family commitments.

They mentioned I can call a specific number if I cant attend, called but no answer and will call again.

My questions are:

Can a witness ask to give evidence online or at a court closer to where they now live?

If I have to attend, what can I expect?
