Auto Unlock with Digital Key on Pixel 9 Pro XL

Hello everyone!

For the past few months, I’ve been having issues with the Digital Key on my Pixel 9 Pro XL.

When I first set up the Digital Key, everything worked perfectly. As soon as I got close to the car, it would automatically detect my phone and unlock the doors. Sometimes it would even work when I was inside the house, in the room closest to the garage.

At some point, however, this completely stopped working. The car no longer seems to detect my phone when I approach it. Because of that, I also can’t use the fingerprint sensor on the door handle for keyless entry.

I now have to take my phone out every time and manually unlock the car through the Digital Key in Google Wallet or the Kia app or hold the phone on to the door handle to unlock via NFC.

What’s strange is that Google Wallet itself seems to detect that I’m near the car, so the Digital Key appears to be working on the phone side. It’s just that the car doesn’t seem to recognize the phone automatically.

I’ve already tried pretty much everything I could think of:

Removing and reinstalling the Digital Key

Removing the key from the car and setting it up again

Restarting the phone

Re-pairing everything

Checking the relevant Bluetooth/NFC/UWB settings

Unfortunately, nothing has fixed the issue.

Has anyone experienced something similar with a Pixel 9 Pro XL and Digital Key?

Any ideas what could cause the car to stop detecting the phone for passive entry while manual unlocking through Google Wallet still works?
