Feeling completely lost at 28, love and care, but constant stress and life transitions are causing friction. Is this normal?
I'm 28 male and feeling totally overwhelmed and directionless right now. My girlfriend and I are preparing for a major move together, but both of us are carrying a massive amount of life stress. She's dealing with her parents' health problems, uncertainty about her family's future, feeling stuck in her job, and wanting to move somewhere that brings her joy. I'm completely burnt out from managing a high-stress job for low pay, dealing with heavy family pressure, and processing grief.
On top of that, we live in an area with literally zero local friends, so we only have each other to rely on. Most of the time, we are extremely loving, supportive, and caring toward each other. We do the daily little things, making each other coffee in the morning, packing lunches, cooking dinner, hugging, and cuddling at night. Not every heavy conversation ends in a fight, but because we are both under so much emotional strain and burnout, conflict still bubbles up every week about core issues like communication and boundaries. Even when we argue, we always talk it through, end on good terms, and make sure the other person is taken care of.
Is this recurring friction just the natural result of two isolated, burnt-out people navigating huge life transitions together, or are these signs of deeper compatibility issues? How do you figure out the path forward when you both feel lost?
