Commuting to Newton-le-Willows

What do you think about commuting to Newton-le-Willows around 3 days a week for a typical 9-17?

Starting point: Bootle (Strand)

Final point: Newton-le-Willows (1.3 miles from station)

Is it better by car or train?

Car looks to be faster comparing to train, but train gives you an option to take a nap/watch movie/read a book etc.

Also, I don't currently have a car, but I do have a licence (new driver).
