Maya user trying to make Blender work with a Maya-like workflow

:need_help: Need Help!

I’m interested in using Blender, and one of the main things that makes me want to commit to it is the amount of customization available through add-ons — especially pie menus and marking-menu-style workflows.

I’m a long-time Maya user, and I’m very comfortable with Maya’s context-sensitive marking menus and keyboard-driven workflow. Coming from Maya, I find Blender’s UI/UX quite complicated and sometimes feel like I’m navigating through too many menus and panels to access tools.

I’ve been looking into add-ons (Better pie menus, Pie master, Pie menu editor fork thats on gumroad),

That allow me to build custom pie menus and context-sensitive workflows, and I’m considering essentially restructuring Blender’s modeling workflow around them.

For example, I’d like to have different pie-menu layouts depending on whether I’m in Vertex, Edge, or Face selection mode, similar to how Maya’s marking menus change depending on the current component mode.

For those who have customized Blender heavily, how far have you taken this approach?

Can you realistically build a workflow where you can rely heavily on both shortcuts and pie/marking menus, while still using Blender’s standard UI when needed?

I’m not trying to make Blender literally become Maya. I’m more interested in making Blender feel as intuitive and efficient as Maya does for me, while still taking advantage of Blender’s strengths.

Would love to hear from people who have gone down this route, especially former Maya users.
