Therapist is critical of me?

Hi all,

I was in a therapy appointment today. It seems like he's pretty critical of me. I tell him about the people I'm seeing in another country and he keeps saying how impossible they are. I agree and just move on to the other things that may be relevant.

Then another thing that I brought up regarding me living with my parents. I told him I'm overwhelmed by my father. He says to just move out and that due to my job I should be making enough money. It honestly felt like yeah I'm just living on my parents dollar. Though I do pay a portion of rent. That I got the impression from him that all my problems regarding my parents would simply shrink down if I moved out, which I agreed with. That he was confused on why I still live here.

He got seemingly very critical of me. He told me it's like high school algebra to just do an excel spread sheet to figure out cost of moving expenses. He mentioned that he’s sure there a positions open in the state I want to move to with a slight smile on his face. That what would any potential relationship say who is talking to me about my plans to go to Washington.

It honestly made me a bit hurt. I told him that this felt like tough love. That I apologized to him for not really knowing what to do and that I feel like I'm digging myself a deeper hole by living here. That bringing up the excel spreadsheet idea didn't feel exciting to me for some reason. When I told him I'm slowly inch by inch decluttering for when I move out I feel he didn't really validate me with that.
It's 10 minutes after the session and | just feel.. bad about myself. Almost emotional.

Any input is appreciated. I’ve been seeing him for about a year and I feel this is kinda the first time I felt personally attacked by him.
