Weird bug that makes Isaac's party join with no Djinns at all?

One of my friend was playing Golden sun 2 on his switch without transfering his save from golden sun, which shouldn't be a big deal, but i noticed that he had very few djinns after Isaac's party joined him, and at first i thought he was just not getting that many djinns, but then he told me he was using a guide to get all the djinns, and i started checking his save to see his djinns, and he's missing every single djinn from the first game??? like, he doesn't even have the djinns Isaac's party has by default, is that a known bug or smth? is that a problem with the version of the game in the switch? i don't understand anything at all
