Rescheduled instead of dismissed when the trial is longer than what my job will pay me for

I was called in for jury service today and was put in a jury pool for a trial that was expected to last a month, the judge had us filling out questionnaires to rule out people with hardships and since my job only pays for up to 10 days I submitted that as a reason I couldn't serve on this trial

However, instead of being dismissed the judge rescheduled my service for the end of September. I wasn't the only person he did this to either, other people in my situation were also rescheduled as well as students who were told to speak with jury services to get theirs rescheduled for their next break

Is this a new thing or did I just get a real hardass judge?

Also, now I have to ask my hr department if I still get 10 days if I'm called in again or if it's down to 9 now since I already took today off to go in because the written policy doesn't seem to account for that
