MacBook suddenly won’t accept my usual password + keyboard stops working in Recovery
Hi! I’m having a really weird issue with my MacBook Air M4.
My usual login password suddenly stopped working. I know the password is correct because I’ve been using the same one without any issues before this happened.
At the same time, my keyboard started behaving strangely on the login screen. When I tried typing in the username field, some keys were producing special characters like À, ß, Ë, etc. instead of normal letters. I checked the keyboard input and switched between ABC and U.S., but that didn’t fix it. The Option key also doesn’t appear to be physically stuck.
After several attempts, my account got temporarily locked because macOS considered the password incorrect.
I then tried password recovery and got to the screen asking for my recovery key. The problem is that I literally can’t type anything into the recovery key field. The keyboard doesn’t produce any input at all on that screen.
Has anyone experienced something like this before? I really need help and I’m not sure what else to try.
Any suggestions would be really appreciated! Also, apologies if I used the wrong flair for this post
