What impression do you get from this guy?
I’ve been talking to this guy for 2 weeks, but we haven’t met in person yet because he’s on vacation.
Today I told him that if he’s only looking for something casual with me, he’s wasting his time. He said he’s not really looking for anything, that he’s been single for quite a while and is fine on his own, and that he’ll just see what happens in the future.
Then he jokingly asked me if I already had everything planned out 😂 and said he doesn’t even know if I’m a fake profile.
I told him obviously I don’t have everything planned out, but when I get to know a guy, it’s because I want to see if there could be something serious. If I don’t see that potential, I just move on. Casual stuff isn’t for me, and I already know that.
I told him this because I prefer to make things clear from the beginning. I know people can still lie about what they want, but at least if I’m upfront about my boundaries, I can see how they respond and whether their actions match their words. And if someone tells me from the start that they only want something casual, I don’t waste my time. I do this with every guy I talk to.
He replied basically saying “exactly,” and that this is why he’s been single for a while. He said there’s no point in dating someone just to fill a void, and that he’s perfectly fine on his own because he hasn’t found anyone serious enough to build something meaningful with.
Obviously, I know you can’t really tell someone’s intentions from a few messages, and I’m not expecting anyone here to magically know what he wants.
But what impression do you get from this exchange? Does he sound genuinely open to seeing where things go, or do his replies give you any red flags?
I’m trying not to overthink it, so I’d love some outside perspectives.
