Clairvoyant people, do you literally *see*, or is it kind of seeing in your mind’s eye? (example in post)

Never considered myself clairvoyant but I’m starting to wonder if I am since this kind of thing has happened since childhood. Today on a nature walk I “saw” (sort of) - more in my mind’s eye - a woman who had lived on that land centuries ago. She was a protector. I saw her face somewhat and could tell her size.

Is this what people mean by clairvoyant? It’s never been the same type of seeing as what i see right in front of me like physical objects. I’m curious, thank you.
