Homeschool with a tutor?

I’ve been homeschooling my kids (8 & 7) for a couple months now so we really just started. We are doing well and I’ve got the curriculum down and a rhythm going. I am very much enjoying the process and the kids are too! I plan to continue.

I’ve been out of work for a while and was really considering homeschool my full-time job. But I just got an opportunity that is really great and now I’m considering my options. I don’t ‘need’ to go to work but it is a great job that would really help get ahead on our finances and is WFH but pretty flexible with time.

I’ve been considering hiring someone to come in and implement homeschool curriculum that I put together. They would come in about 4 mornings a week for 3-4 hours or so. I don’t expect them to really ‘teach’ as I’d like to handle the tougher subjects in the afternoons while I have downtime at work. In my industry that’s very possible most days and my husband could flex in too as needed.

I’m imagining that I’d have them handle lots of reading time and pre-done lessons from the curriculum books that I would set up. I like to choose a lot of additional videos and hands-on things like science experiments and art projects that they could do too. I’d handle the math and any ‘quizzes’ and making sure they’re staying on track with all the subjects. I’d do deep dives into things too.

Is this crazy to consider? Does it just negate the point of homeschooling? I am so new to this I’m hesitant to even think of changing it up but I also can’t ignore the opportunity in my lap. What do you experienced homeschoolers think?
