Why do some people refuse to be friends with MAGA people

One of my best friends is full on MAGA and I very strongly disagree with him but we just don't talk about it much and get along like normal people. My uncle is also intensely MAGA and we get along great

But some people especially on Reddit say they could never be friends with somebody with opposing political views, which is just a really weird mindset to me. Why?
