What should I know about vintage pens?

I've been using fountain pens for years now but I really would love to buy a vintage pen from the 1930s. I was thinking of purchasing either a button filler or a vacumatic. Are there any good websites based in the USA to purchase from? What should I look out for in terms of care? Also, what are your experiences with vintage pens? Do you like them more than your modern ones?
