Ac4 (steam machine/steamOS) (ORIGINAL NOT RESYNCHED) Ubisoft connect bullshit

Running the old original AC4 on the steam machine and an update to Ubisoft connect tanked my framerate to 15fps. It’s bullshit. Is there any ways to remove Ubisoft connect? I just wanna play without the nonsense punishment from DRM.
