3.0 vs 4.0 motor mounts and interchangability

Thinking about doing a 302 swap into my 99 ranger. the problem is that the kits for adapting a 302 into a ranger use the 4.0 motor mounts. the mounts themselves look similiar but i do know that they arent the same.

but could you replace the 3.0 mounts and put the 4.0 mounts in the same spot on the frame?
