scared that i can't get into the series (not a hate post!)

so i beat metal gear solid 1 recently after years and i loved it, the controls imo aged quite poorly but a few games from the ps1 often do.

i've been playing mgs2 on my ps3 and i'm still on the boat (olga's fight specifically) but i just can't find myself enjoying the gameplay side of things. it definitely feels and controls leagues better than mgs1 but it just isn't fun for me.

is it something i should thicken my skin for or is it more likely that the series may not be for me?
