Learning Guitar as a 30 y/o with learning disabilities- tips and is there hope?

Question

I'm 30 years old and have absolutely no musical background other than singing - I have no understanding of rhythm and can't read music. I love music and have always dreamed of learning the guitar. I'm starting out and getting discouraged and am facing my child self that had significant learning disabilities- slow processing and motor skills. I have a great teacher that's very patient . Only a few lessons in but feeling pretty discouraged. Anyone have similar experience and have any words of advice?
