Question on Aviation Avionics (AV)

I chose AV as my rate and have questions.. I don’t see much discussion on here about it.

1. Do you get the choice if you want to be AE or AT?
2. Anyone who’s doing either AE or AT how’s the work life?
3. During school how are the hours and how much free time do you get throughout the week, do you get weekends off or it depends?
4. As an AT OR AE are we on the ship most of times?
5. Since I signed 1 year of schooling and 4 of AD, 5 years total.. in those first 12 months am I required to be in Florida or during holidays or the year can we visit home?

I find myself mechanically inclined but would rather be a AE to learn more on electrical..

Thank you in advance.
