Is yumeshipping... Socially inappropriate?

I was grown really sheltered and have parents that are weird (like no proper schooling sheltered). My mom and grandma tends to read very gory crime novels and find comfort in the characters. Its also very likely my dad is even more deeper in the fictional world.

In an enviroment like that, I naturally gravitated towards fiction and fandom as a young child. I tend to observe the enviroment I'm in to see what's appopriate, so when yumeshipping became popular I was like "I like arts and crafts, I like cartoons why not yumeship" so I made seperate social media accounts, made an OC, and started the craft. I even made an app for yumeshippers as I'm good with computers.

However, I've seen people saying its weird or cringe and I'm confused. How is any different than any fandom thing? (Cosplay, fanfictions?)
