If people nitpicked the 95 movie like they do with the new one
So I just saw Mortal Kombat 95 and it sucked. What an insult to the franchise and the fans.
The movie starts and I'm immediately pissed off because the actor for Shang Tsung is too young. He's supposed to look like an old wizard. Where is his beard?
Also he's fighting Liu Kangs brother, who he kills. They couldn't bother with a character from the games so they made up a "little brother" OC as a motivation for Liu Kang to join the tournament. Where is the White Lotus society?
Why does Raiden look like a random hobo? He's supposed to be the God of Thunder, protector of Earthrealm. He's so unserious and is constantly cracking jokes. Every time he spoke in that MCU dialogue it took me out of the movie.
The actress they chose for Sonya sucks and can't fight for shit. Also they made Kano randomly Australian for some reason. He's supposed to be bald! Hello?
Art Lean lol, enough said, stop it with the OC's movie. If it's not from the game then I don't want it!
Sub-Zero and Scorpion suck in this. They are barely characters and don't even speak except for a few battle lines from Scorpion. Where is their rivalry? Why does Johnny Cage kill Scorpion instead of Sub-Zero? Did no one in the writers room play the games?
Where's the gore in this? This is the series that led to the creation of the ESRB, why is all the violence so tame? You don't even see a drop of blood until the final fight. Come on, this is supposed to be Mortal Kombat.
I could go on but I'm tired. For the record, I love the 95 movie, but a faithful adaptation it is not. I'm sure a lot of us have a special connection to it because we watched it as kids, but today a lot of the same people who love it would tear it apart if it had come out in 2026.
